2008 Upcoming and Past Events

(It's early in the year so there are many more events being planned and the details will be added as they develop)

January

Work off the festivities from last month and get ready for February.

February

February 10th Sunday: Dust off your recipe books and dig out the HOT sauce. It’s February and time for the Annual Dave Comstock Chili Cook-off. Bring your best pot of Chili and see if you can win the coveted ‘Best of Heartburn’ prize, sponsored by Rolaids. If you don’t make chili, please bring a side dish or dessert. The Club will provide all the paper, plastic, and drinks. There will be awards given at this event.

Directions: I-85 to Clairmont Road Exit #91, exit and turn toward Decatur / Emory to the first light at Briarcliff Road and turn left. Follow Briarcliff to the first light, Fisher Trail, and turn right. Follow Fisher Trail to the second right, Morris Launders and turn right again. The Briarcliff Pool and Tennis will be on your right. We are having this event at the Club House, where there is lots of paved parking. See you there! Time to be there is 1:00 to 1:30.

The Chili Cook Off was a big success. The weather was good and the Chili was better. We had 28 people and 7 different Chilis. Prizes were given out for the top 3.

We had a special Guest speaker, Jon Ward, from the BOP&C to tell us about the upcoming event to be held May 2&3 at the Atlanta Marriott Windy Hill. Our Club hopes to produce this show 2010. Make sure you mark your calendar for the next event to be held in March. Keep up on all the happening at our web site.

November (2 events scheduled)

November 1st Saturday Car Club Jamboree at Hilton Head Island

Now that the Hilton Head Concours d’Elegance has come and gone, you need to plan to attend next year’s event. We had 10 cars participate in the Saturday Car Club Jamboree and 2 in the main Sunday Concours. The weather was spectacular except for a bit of rain toward the end on Sunday afternoon.

The Saturday event had 185 cars participate with a total of 20 winning the Peoples Choice Award. Of the 20 awards given our Peach State Club Members took 4! The winners are; Jack DeLaigle with his 1935 Fisher Bodied Limo, Frank and Martina Butler with their 1964 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible, Dick Peden with his 1953 Eldorado Convertible and Jerry Nestlehutt with his 1937 Series 75 Limo. It just goes to show that people know Cadillac style when they see it.

Lewis Schwartz, VP

A word from our Prez; We all had a great time at the Hilton Head Island Concours Show, I would like to thank Lewis for getting all of us organized to go and show. I would also like to thank both Lewis & Martina for finding the house for the member’s party; last but not least, thanks to Steve and Emerson for preparing all of the fine food, it could not have been better! Thanks to everyone that made it down, looking forward to next year. On a personal note, thanks for the fine ride in Cadillac style to and from courtesy of Doug Bailey.

New this year, Christmas Brunch. On behalf of the Peach State Cadillac & LaSalle Club, it is our pleasure to invite you to our 16th annual banquet. Festivities start at Noon, brunch at 1:00 PM and will conclude with the Awards Ceremony. A cash bar for beer and wine will be available.

Why a Christmas Brunch you ask? Well, just as much food and cheer, but for those of you who do not like to take your Classic out at night it will be a beautiful sunny day! (We have already arranged this by the way). This will give us a break from the traditional evening dinner and allow us to have a Peoples Choice Awards car show at the event for one lucky owner. The banquet facility has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lot to allow us the pleasure of viewing so many fine automobiles.

We will also have our traditional, Chinese Auction. Please bring something to auction; all proceeds to be donated to the club. Auction items from previous years include: auto- and non-auto related, baked goods, adult beverages and everything in between

The party will be held at the Creations Restaurant at “The Art Institute of Atlanta” just off of GA 400 & I-285. Directions; Traveling North on GA 400, take exit 5A (first exit outside of the perimeter) and bear right onto Abernathy Road. Traveling South on GA 400, take exit 5 turn left onto Abernathy Road. Either way, turn left at the second light (Peachtree Dunwoody Road) continue on Peachtree Dunwoody Road through the first light.

Or go to their web site at this link; http://www.artinstitutes.edu/atlanta/AboutUs/map_directions.aspx

Take the next left into the Embassy Row complex. The Art Institute of Atlanta is the first building on the left, turn into the first left parking area.
